Extremely Slow Connection
Huge problem. I went to overlay a database after I made some conversions and now every time I run the app, it is extremely slow when connecting to the db. When I run locally the app runs perfectly. Nothing wrong with the db file. I've reinstalled the firebird server, changed ip addresses, tried to use a different hosting computer. Nothing. I've even resorted to backups over a month old for both the db and the app and still it runs extremely slow.
I'm getting desperate here. Has anyone else run into a problem with their .Net apps taking forever when connecting to a database on a server?? I reinstalled both as classic and super server and even took Guardian down. Please help. |

Well, it seems that you've tested the db/hosting server/app problems out ... all that remains is the connection between the computer and the server.
Don't have any experience with .Net though so can't help you there. You could try placing the app on another comp and keep the hosting server the same also. (maybe there is a problem with the computer you are testing on - virus/trojan etc)

It could be a DNS related problem (slow DNS name lookup) if you are connecting to a remote host.
Hope this helps.

Appreciative of the assistance. It was a network issue in which the port was being blocked. Guess they noticed large amounts of data going through and blocked the port.
