Federated(linked) Tables in Firebird
Hi all,
I'm curious if its possible to setup a Federated database in Firebird. I'm looking to setup a table in a firebird database which would point to or link to another firebird or SQL database. I just can't find any documentation on how to set it up. Just to shed more light on what I'm up against, I'll explain my problem a bit more. I have 30 firebird databases spreadout on different PCs throughout my organization. Each database has its own UserLogin table... Everytime a new user needs to be added or a password changed, I need to update this table on 30 separate PCs. I'd like for each of the 30 databases to virtually pull this data from the central database. It would be a regular table in each of the 30 databases, but the data would be always pulled from the central database. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, HoveyG |

I'm pretty shure that dblinks/federate tables are in the ToDo list.
Can't you relocate databases to a central server instead of the users pcs? I'm unsure about about the ability of a Firebird server to do remote auth.
