I don't have any intention of using .NET anytime soon but I downloaded the source code for this provider just to look at it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been designed so you can compile it to use with Mono if you ever want to do .NET on a Linux box. It's good to see that they thought ahead and didn't do a Windows-only version.

Does anyone know if this can support secure connections for the net, like SSL?

This is what you want ? Client->.NetProvider->SSLConnection-->FirebirdServer There is no support for the ssl in the engine , but there are workarounds like vpn and there is one article about How to Encrypt and Compress Network Traffic between FirebirdClient and Server http://www.ibphoenix.com/main.nfs?a...age=ibp_zebedee (This is quick and Dirty) Last edited by mariuz : June 9th, 2003 at 04:11 PM. |
