Question Firebird Optimization Tools

Has anyone had any experiences with the Firebird Optimization Tools currently available? We are seriously considering adding one to the tool kit if there is one that would be worth while having.

Looking forward to the feedback!

Jack

I don't trust much those tools, I think that one of the best optimization practices is to keep fresh stats for your indexes, like shown here
the author suggests a stored proc to do "housekeeping"
sql Code:
Original - sql Code
  1. SET TERM ^ ;
  2.
  3. CREATE PROCEDURE MAINTENANCE_SELECTIVITY
  4. AS
  5. DECLARE VARIABLE S VARCHAR(200);
  6. BEGIN
  7. FOR SELECT RDB$INDEX_NAME FROM RDB$INDICES INTO :S DO
  8. BEGIN
  9. S = 'SET statistics INDEX ' || s || ';';
  10. EXECUTE STATEMENT :s;
  11. END
  12. SUSPEND;
  13. END
  14. ^
  15.
  16. SET TERM ; ^
