Thumbs down Firebird Varchar Fields

Greetings

Hoping someone will be able to help me, i am really stumped.

I have a database application that stores data in multiple fields/, some of those fields the user can export to CSV format.

Now all was working great until i updated to Firebird 2.5, now for some reason when i export I get unknown chars in my varchar fields, the code hasnt changed at all, only difference is the firebird version.

I am still using Delphi 7 and i believe there are difficulties with the string conversion, but i dont understand how it can work in one version of Firebird but not the next?

Any pointers would be great!

Much appreciated!

Donovan

I would say i has to do with collations.
That is the translation of some particular chars for different languages.

Take a look at
http: / / www . destructor . de / firebird/charsets.htm
http: / / www . firebirdsql . org / refdocs/langrefupd21-ddl-collation.html

I hope may comment helps you find the cause.

Also check Firebird's installation directory/misc/upgrade/metadata and read the docs there.
