    dim strConn as string

    strConn = "Provider=MSDASQL.1;Extended Properties='DRIVER={PostgreSQL};"
    strConn = strConn & "DATABASE=ledger;SERVER=" & strHn & ";PORT=5432;"

    If you are using XTG Systems ODBC driver you can try something like:
    Code:
    adoConn.ConnectionString = "DRIVER={XTG Systems InterBase6 ODBC driver};DB=127.0.0.1:C:\Firebird\EMPLOYEE.FDB;UID=SYSDBA;PWD=masterkey"
    adoConn.Open
    note that there is a real OleDB provider for Interbase/Firebird (IBOleDB).

    You can also use the IBPhoenix ODBC driver:
    Code:
    "DRIVER={Firebird/Interbase(r) Driver}; DBNAME=localhost:C:\Firebird\EMPLOYEE.FDB; UID=SYSDBA; PWD=masterkey
