FlameRobin is a database administration tool for Firebird

Hi All;

FlameRobin is a database administration tool for Firebird DBMS.
Our goal is to build a tool that is:
- lightweight (small footprint, fast execution)
- cross-platform (Linux, Windows for start, others planned too)
- dependant only on other open source software

For views, you can:

All changes are applied in the form of a DDL script that is run in the SQL window and that you can see, commit or rollback.

I'll try it soon, for now I'd like to suggest three features rarely found on the "average" database management tool, the first is a real stored procedure editor (line numbers, syntax highligting, code completion, debugging), the second is an ODBC datasource import tool and the third is a server config wizard, to help people tune server parameters.
Anyway, keep up the good work!!

Actually, most serious (non-free) Firebird admin tools do just that

I believe it's true, but it's just my opinion (MyCC, pgAdminIII are some examples of what I call "average tool" which does not mean bad tool ...) and it was just my suggestion for some nice features to be added to an opensource management tool.
Anyway I did not mean your tool, which I don't know at all.

Ah yes - but those aren't Firebird admin tools

You cannot expect MySQL CC to have a Stored Procedure debugger as MySQL doesn't have Stored Procedures yet (except for 5.0 Alpha release).

Anyways, I was talking about Firebird admin tools. As I said, all commercial ones have Stored Procedure debuggers, syntax highlighting and much more.

Wink

this is what Milan Babuskov said on the list

Quote:
| the first is a real stored procedure editor (line numbers, syntax
| highligting, code completion, debugging),

We already have all these except for debugging

| the second is an ODBC datasource import tool

For this I made Feature Request item in the tracker and assigned to
myself. It can be done via wxODBC, so I'll look in to it in future.

| and the third is a server config wizard, to help people tune server
| parameters.

Hm, I'm not sure what this should do?
