Installing Firebird
Hello,
I was using IB 5.5 until recently upgrading to Delphi 2006. I uninstalled 5.5, installed 7.5 (several times) and now get the error message "unavailable database" when I try to connect to one of my databases. It seems as if the IB server is refusing to run. So, I uninstalled IB7.5 (again) and tried to install FB. The install script said that it detected an IB client in place on the computer and could install but not configure. I've looked all over, but don't know what file(s) need to be deleted. Any thoughts on either problem? At work we may get a contract using an FB database, so getting that one up and running would be prefered. Thank you. |

Look for something like "ibclient.dll" or "fbclient.dll"

Pabloj,

Thanks. That told me what to look for. The villain file seems to have actually been named <ibxml.dll>. Turns out neither 7.5 nor 5.5 fully uninstalled themselves. I found other pieces laying around. Deleted them all and FB now works. |

Glad to hear it's working now.
