is Firebird ODBC driver exists for Delphi 6, 5, ...?

I downloaded Firebird ODBC driver 1.2 and tried to estabilish new alias in BDE administrator, its OK, however when I tried to use this alias from Delphi 6 data components (TQuery, TTable), I receicevd error message about incorrect BDE configuration. Documentation is not exhaustive about this driver.

What's jour experience about using Firebird in older version of Delphi?
