    Multiple instances Firebird Classic v1.5.5

    Hi there,

I have been searching through the firebird documentation and have been performing some google searches, but I cannot find any documentation on how to configure multiple firebird instances on a single server. I am running Firebird v1.5.5 in Classic mode on RedHat linux (Yes I know its an old version, but upgrading would be too complex at the moment).

    Does anyone know if :-

    1. Is it possible to have multiple instances of Firebird (v1.5.5 in Classic mode on RedHat linux) on a single server?

    2. And if it is possible, could anyone explain how to do it or where I could find the relevant documentation?

    Many thanks for your time.

I am not 100% certain; but I do not believe it is possible with v1.5.5.

Not sure why upgrading would be so difficult as you only have one instance now.

Perhaps you can run multiple virtual machines on the server with one Firebird instance in each.

Similar problem - I think that there is no problem to do it. Copy the installation directory, edit the config files and setup the ports for each instance and find a way to start the server from the different directories.
Or maybe I'm missing something - I'm not very familiar with Red Hat
