Turkish charset

Hello,
I have to use two types of charsets in my db: polish (my native) and one collumn in only one table is Turkish...

The problem is,that no matter for which charset I change the type of this one field, it does not store some of typical turkish characters (f.ex: ğ and ş, the other, like: ü ş or ı are stored properly)
I tried such charsets:ISO8859_9, WIN1254, and even DOS857

What do I do wrong if these charsets are supposed to be suitable for Turkish characters?

Please, help me
