    Opening a firebird database

I am trying to open a firebird database file which do not have write permission. I am getting the following error "No permission for read-write access to database XYZ". I am using embedded firebird and getting this error message while call to Open() function of FBConnection object.
Does the firebird database file needs to have both read/write permissions to be opened. My purpose is just to read the file.

    Please solve my problem.... Arvind

Every connection has a transaction, attachment id etc. And Firebird updates that information in the database - change the values of oldest active transaction, oldest transaction, next transaction and so on. For that you need write access.
