Question Updated documentation on migration from MS SQL Server?

    Hi guys.

I am a long time MS SQL Server developer. However, I am switching jobs and in my new job I will be working with Firebird.

I am not totally new to Firebird but my knowledge about this engine is limited. I went to offcial website and I've started reading article about migration from SQL Server but the year of the article is 2005!

I guess a lot has changed since that time and I am looking for some updated documentation. Could someone provide me a link which describes in detail differences between does two engines?

I am interested in technical differences, like for example: there is no autoinc field type in Firebird but this can be done by generators and so on.

Or maybe a good book about Firebird? If there exists one. I am targeting Firebird 2.5

    Thanks in advance.

For start you can use both these documents (also you can send me bugs if there are differences)
    http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/SQL_Dialects_Reference
The paper with mssql to firebird migration is in the process to be updated
but is very useful for starting
    http://firebirdsql.org/manual/migration-mssql.html
I do it in my free time and process is slow but the xml is updated (correcting some paragraphs and updating some versions ...)
Engines in essence didn't changed too much (so the types are mostly the same)

The best book is one written by Hellen , that is the Firebird Bible

Also you can order from amazon , but the best way to order is from ibphoenix and you will have the suppliment for free (from what i read on the frontpage)

For me the Firebird documentation is more than enough and is free
