What version of Firebird are using? Do you have FORCED WRITES set to ON at database level?

I guess this is related to a bug in Firebird: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-1476

which has been fixed in V2.0.4, V2.1 and up.

Without a bug fixed Firebird version you might end up with changes not being written onto disk but still kept in the cache/memory. You also might consider purchasing an UPS.
