right i was given some advice of the offical macromedia forums and they helped a slight bit

"You can fade things in and out in Fireworks by changing their opacity from 100% to 0%, and then back to 100%."

i get that then i wanted to know hwo to make it a smoth change between imgaes and i got this reply

"Not a built in one. You have to do that part for yourself. It's not hard, though. All you need to do is put an image you want to fade in on the last frame of an image that has faded out, and then set it to change its opacity from 0 to 100. You can do all that in the Animate dialog box.

now that bit confused me....
