    Lightbulb Dynamics, Loading and scrolling.

    Hello all-,

    I have been working with flash for a bit now. Although most of my time is spent creating animations and graphics.

    I now want to tackle this concept of loading dynamic information as well as images, and being able to scroll through them simply.

    I really wanted to achieve a simple working scroll gallery, which loads all of its content through 1 XML document which I have formatted as such:

    <product name="NAME" image="IMAGE.PNG" date="DATE">

    Do any of you who know where to acquire the help I need, have any direction you can guide me in?

    Here is a picture of what I am attempting to accomplish.

    Thank you very much for your time

    Hi, there are several tutorials out there that cover this. Here is a popular one on Kirupas site. This site lists 10 different Flash XML Image Gallery tutorials.

    Thank you for the tutorials

    I have been going over tutorials for a bit now and I have only encountered one error...

    I really want to use one string.

    like so:
    Code:
    <product name="NAME" image="IMAGE.PNG" date="DATE">
    But all the code I can find requires the code to be broken up like this:
    Code:
    <product>
         <productName>One</productName>
         <productImage>image.jpg</productImage>
         <productDate>01/20/12</productDate>
    </product>
    Can anyone point me in a direction for resolution for this insistent annoyance?

    I really need help...

    Thank you.

    It just requires a bit of tweaking. Say you are currently using:

    trace(product.productName)

    That will give you access to the productName node. What you want to do is access the attribute which requires slightly different notation. You use @ to access an attribute:

    trace(product.@name)

    It's E4X notation. You can read about that here on Senoculars site.
