I really need some help creating an interactive Flash/Quicktime project.
I've created somewhat of an interface in flash...nothing complicated..and I have my quicktime movie. It is comprised of 3 different "scenes", or sections if you will. My aim is to create a DVD-type feel, but things just aren't working. I don't know the best way to go about it. Should I: A) Export my interface by itself as an .swf then create a separte file importing both the .swf and the .mov, exporting the entire thing as a Quicktime movie. B) Import the quicktime movie into my flash interface and then export THAT as a .mov C) Other ideas? Here are the biggest problems that I've run into... - I can't find a way to make a frame scrubber - When I use Method A, I don't know how to interact between the .swf interface and the quicktime movie. I click a button on the interface but the .mov doesn't respond. I'm going crazy. Some one please help. Sorry for my rambling. cheers, -bud |

First, some questions:
(1) how long (in minutes/seconds) is the .mov? (2) how big (file size) is the .mov? (3) what is the frame rate of that .mov? Depending on those, you may have to use Director. |

The movies are pretty large...
The first scene is 2:51 at a file size of 101,825 KB. The second scene is 167,966 KB at 4:45. Both are in the standard NTSC rate of 29.970 frames/sec |

Not 100% on this, but here's some ideas.
I believe you can import Quicktime Videos into Flash, but they become single frames (takes a while too). Try and load them into a Movie Instance (not too sure if you can, and too tired to try myself right now). If you can do this then use TellTargets to start, stop, pause, forward and rewind the clips. This way you can movie them around on the stage as well. If you want to just create buttons that will open a movie like a dvd start screen does, then all you have to do is create your interface, the buttons and then getURL for the .mov when a clip is choosen. Lastly, you might want to search FlashKit.com for some tutorials on how to add .mov to your Flash Movie. Hope that helps some how ![]()

if I didn't read it wrongly, the movie file sizes each are in the ball park of 100mb and up??
then I can tell you right now, without a doubt, that Flash will have a hard time keeping up with the movies. ok, I haven't tried playing that project in a G5, or P4 3.2G. :P but even on a dual-GHz-G4, it's sluggish. Try it first with a shorter/smaller clip. It makes testing and troubleshooting a lot easier. But ultimately, I'd recommend Director for projects involving large movie files. |

Agreed, or After Effects. Flash isn't really made for those sorts of things. Try and keep in mind, you could even build an HTML web based Interface, integrating both Flash and HTML. This way you could have your cool, animated looks and still play your quicktime easily and there won't be any delays if it's running off of a CD.
