Flash chat vs other kinds of chat
What is the best type of chat program for people to chat one on one?
1. Does flash chat impair SEO?
2. How would you compare the server load/speed of flash chat vs other types of chat, such as cometchat, ajax chat, of java chat?

1. Search engines don't participate in chat rooms. A chat room will have pretty much zero impact on SEO regardless of the language in which it is implemented.

Thanks for the reply. What I meant is peer to peer chat, not chatrooms. I was afraid that a peer to peer chat that is always available may change the ability of a search engine to find the text on the site, kinda like how frames on an HTML page does that. What do you think?

A search engine cannot use a chat program, peer to peer or otherwise, to find content on a site. If you're planning to provide your content through a peer to peer chatroom then you have a problem, but since that pretty much doesn't even make sense, I don't see any issues.
