Flash Forms

A real newb question for someone. I just haven't had a cause to use this before, so I have no idea how to go about it.

I have a search script for a site that I need to incorporate into a flash movie; a simple text box with submit button.

I have tried using goURL with a link to the search script, but the submit button simply runs the search on a null and does not use the text input.

How do I link the text field and submit button?

I checked out that tutorial before, but it assumes you have used to ActionScript before. I could use it if it actually mentioned where the ActionScript should be placed.
