ActionScript 3 - Is :void needed?

Just curious to know if adding ":void" necessary when there is nothing being sent to the function when you call it.

eg.
run_me();

function run_me(){
trace("yeah")
}

No although it is best practise to specify a function return type even if it is void. That is except for a class constructor which should have no return type.
