layer alignmemt in dreamweaver 4

I have a site I desgined with my computer set at 800 x 600. at the bottom of the pages, I used a layer to display some text ... like a banner. When I view the site at 800 x 600, the table at the bottom of the page is centered just like I wanted to be. When I view the site at 1024 x 768 or higher settings, the table is no longer centered. can anyone explain what I might be doing wrong.
