making letters grow

How do I go about making a white letter start real small on a black background, then grow real big, to where the entire background is white. I then want it to come back in to make another white letter shrink real small, to nothing on a black background.

Please help!

Create a key frame with small letter,

create another key frame with larger letter

add motion tweening.

keep adding keyframes with larger letters until it covers the scrren..
