Question Passing Variables to a Java Applet with Flash

I'm trying to create a GUI in flash that pops up and allows you to control a Java applet.

I've been trying to get the SWF to pass variables into the HTML file that controls the Applet. ( I already have the HTML file setup to do that)

What would be the best way of going about this, or if anyone knows a way that would allow an SWF and an a JAVA applet to communicate independently of an HTML file please let me know.

Thank You
