This may be a silly question, but I recently got Studio MX and was wondering what Fireworks & Freehand are used for? And which program is the best for creating drop down menus?

Freehand is essentially a vector graphics drawing and layout tool, started life as a tool for print - can import/export bitmap graphics as well.
Fireworks is a vector drawing and bitmap manipulation package with html and javascript capabilities that will allow you to 'slice' up an image and export it as HTML tables, with or without things like javascript rollovers and drop down menus - code it exports is native to dreamweaver so you can work back and forth between the two with ease. newest version also has support for things like dynamic images. your question - fireworks. ![]() |

Thanks for the reply! I was playing around with fireworks, and they do have a drop down menu creater, but it is not customizable. I mean I can't have my own images as the submenu's, it automatically does it for me.. is there a way I can Image1 as the main menu item, and say, Image1a & Image1b underneath?

been a while since ive used fireworks, but i think the only ways are to create your own styles, which should then appear in the pop-up creator, or to replace images after export(at least the coding is done!).
