Transparency Problems
Hiya,
I have created a graphic with a feathered edge and went to save it in PNG format, with alpha transparency using Fireworks MX. (To view the graphic click here) However, the edge seems to be quite jagged - is there any way I can make the feathered edge smoother? It needs to be transparent as there is going to be a background. All the best, Simon |

Sure is. PNG's are awesome. They support a layer called the ALPHA layer, which consists of 256 levels of gray........
OK! OK!... 254!, with one color being white and one color being BLACK.....sheesh. Anyways, the ALPHA layer controls the tansparency of the object. Anywhere it's pure white, the object is 100% opaque, and where it's pure black, it's 100% transparent. Everythign in between is translucent. Also, make sure you're using YoungPup's Sleight Javascript Code to force MSIE6 browsers to view the transparency, because by default, MSIE 6 doesn't support the PNG's alpha transparency (go fig) |
