Using Actionscript to force a button state

I would like to use actionscript to force a button to go to a specific state and stay there. Here's what I wish would work:

Quote:
if (variable eq "blahblah") {
buttonName.gotoAndStop(1);
}
else {
buttonName.gotoAndStop(0);
}

That's not working for me, though... Thanks for any help.

use movieclip behavior for your buttons, instead of button behavior.
