    Load movie/variable problems

    If I am going to load a jpg into a window which is better? I am using load movie right, and the site is working fine for me, but there are some saying the photos are not loading for them. I'm trying to save movie size and load time by not making the photos part of the movie, but that's not an option if its not working for everyone

    The pics are only 9kb, so It can't be that they are taking too long to load. I wished movies loaded into windows loaded just like the parent movie. I have seen some parts of a movie come up on the screen as they load when someone doesn't use a load page, just like a webpage does. I wish pics loaded like the do on webpages when you load them into a movie so people know it's coming.

    Are you checking for the version of Flash that your users have installed??

    Dynamically loading JPG's started with Flash MX... but I'd get your users up to at least version 6.0.47.0 of the Flash Player.

    Yeah I got it set to tell them to downloaded the latest version of flash and to prompt them to download the latest version, but I might need to check that. I usually add a flash movie on the front page saying "if you don't see the image above, you don't have flash." Is there a way to only make it display if they have flash 6 player?

    One of the easier ways is to change the HTML embedding the Flash player....

    Normally there's the attribute...

    codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"

    You'll want to change that to...

    codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,47,0"

    ... or whatever the latest version is... I haven't checked in a while.

    That is always the first thing I do, I change the cab version, so it detects them as not having the lastest version.

    Well... other than that - I'd have to look at the code/fla to see if there's other problems...
