Hello,
At this moment I have a dating and meeting site running on webmatrixhosting but they will delete all free users within less than 30 days from now .So I'm looking for a free webhost with the following features: - 10GB of bandwidth - at least 100MB web space if possible in the future more - at least 100MB Sql server space if possible in the future more - SQL Server 2000 Database - Remote access to SQL Server 2000 - possible that a user can upload files with his browser that are written to disk on the webserver via asp.net (File.PostedFile.SaveAs()) - SMTP Mail Server - possible to send mail via asp.net - at least 1 email box - FTP - ASP.NET - .NET Framework v1, .NET Framework v1.1 or more - ADO.NET - XML - .ASPX, .ASMX - Code behind supported - Global.asax supported - data backup of web and sql server - fast response time - server with good uptime 99% or more My site: http://dating.europe.webmatrixhosting.net/ The site is a clean site, so no nudity is allowed. The site is still under development but is already being visited. More and more features are added or enhanced each week. Also I have a professional designer who will enhance the look of the site, make a nice logo when the developing of code is finished. It is currently in dutch but I plan to make it also in English when the dutch version is finished. Thanks in advance for your time. |

Lots of persons looking but no free hosting until now.
I'm looking around on the internet and there are a lot of companies that offer asp.net and MS sql server hosting. So where are you all? You can also send me an email with an offer by clicking on my name and I will keep everything confidential, if you are afraid of getting to much inqueries for free hosting. |

I think the reason for poor response is because of the ASP thing as most of us run Linux servers and would be more capable of support PHP... asp.net is a very resource hungry programming language as compared to php....

resource
I get the feeling that this is more a PHP and mysql place but asp.net is a bit more easy to develop for. I want to most comfortable language to develop for and at this time I can develop in visual basic and C# with full OOP support, good documentation, a lot of powerful classes, a good debugger, exceptions, nice IDE and I can go on.
I wasn't to happy with ASP because I was an application developer. So just stand alone software and ASP for me was a step back. Now using ASP.NET it was the first time I really felt happy that I could program like I was used to. |

If it is less bandwidth and less space it's also ok, I just want to have the time to develop further and also make the site a bit known. When the gets more attention I must have an option to grow to a more powerfull hosting plan were I also will pay for.

(how can u find asp.net simpler? is it cuz u get the visual studio type interface or what? i cant understand it at all...
its quite a tough one...) Currently PHP is probably the prefered choice for a web developer and thus most host support it and since it is new to many pepople are experimenting or professionally using it in one form or anoher most free hosts that supply the better of services have it installed... u are likly to have to drop your BW SPACE etc... alot to find a host thatll support .net framework and asp.net... gl though... |

Read this postings about asp.net being easier:
http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/showthread.php?t=58370 Mayby you haven't given asp.net a long enough chance to understands how it works. The last days I read stuff about PHP and also talked face to face to people who actually made php sites (and also have a experience with asp.net) what they thought about PHP in comparison with asp.net. And they said that ASP.NET is in fact easier. You install the framework, you take the visual studio interface, an Sql server and you are off. Make your stored procs, foreign keys, use the powerfull classes, OOP, the debugger, exception handling, auto completion of code, checking the code (when there is something wrong the interface shows under some code some blue waves and an explanation)... and I can go on. I think that people that say that ASP.NET is not easy that they don't know what it's all about. You can make your code in visual basic or C# or even Delphi and use the programming you know. Also use the OOP and so on. Just because a lot of people use PHP it's not because of that the best choice. Since I started using asp.net most of the time the pages worked the first time I runned the pages. This because a lot is checked before the site is run. And ok, when someone can give me the following I'll be happy: asp.net webspace 50meg sql server 2000 50meg bandwidth 2gig web email Global.asax supported webdir security Look it's only figures, anybody can mail or post an offer thanks |
