500 I won't connect to Server IP (only to my IP)
Hi

I am facing weird problem i cannot connect to my client's server using ftp, when i use cute FTP 7.0 home i get error (command can't recognized by the server) checked with PASSIVE too..

but when i use DOS command line I write,

ftp domain.com

user: username
password: password

and i am connected to the server successfully, it shows me all the welcome messages but when i use any FTP command e.g DIR i get error

500 I won't connect to 192.168.-.- (only to MY_IP_ADDRESS)
425 No Data connection

with the same info my other friends can login but they are in different country.

can anyone help me please what is going wrong here?

Who is in charge of the FTP server to which you're connecting?

sorry i didnt get you ... let me tell you that it is my client's server where he has his running website in which i have to do some modifications .. i am trying to connect to his server but i am having the error mentioned above..

in addition my client is in USA and i am in some other country

You should contact the people who maintain your client's server. They can tell you how it's been setup and can `tail` log files while you try to connect. Anything we tell you here would probably require changes to the FTP server, and it doesn't sound like you have access to that (you're using an FTP client).

My client has a dedicated server and his system admin is working for the last ten hrs to figure it out but not so good to fix this, i talked to my client and he said if i could find any hint about fixing this he would ask his system admin to follow those instructions.

So I'd really appreciate if you can tell me how to fix it on the FTP server and I will forward that to System Admin

Can't you tell I'm trying to pawn this problem off on someone else? I've never experienced this before, but the first place I would look is in the FTP logs. The admin should consider increasing the log level and have you try to log in. I would also start looking in the area of DNS and routers; 192.168.X.X is an internal IP address.
