Can't log into FTP server
I host my own webserver running XP PRO.
I have IIS running and the website works fine. For some reason I cannot log into the FTP site. I get the following message from Cute FTP: ERROR:> Can't connect to remote server. Socket error = #10060. The username and password are correct and the Port 21 is definetely open. I am alos running Zone Alarm as my firewall, but have given the correct permission to IIS. Anyone know what could cause this? |

Is the FTP service running? Check in the Services MMC in Administrative Tools.

It sounds like either the FTP service isn't running or there is a block on port 21 somewhere. XP has the ICF firewall built in, that isn't turned on blocking port 21 by any chance?

The FTP service is definetely running.
The XP firewall is turned off, I run Zone Alarm instead and have the ports open. I do have a dynamic IP and and am running a dynamic DNS client which updates my IP through zoneedit.com. I am pretty sure the problem has somethign to do with thtat setup, i am just not sure what. |

Well, I don't use IIS FTP and am running out of ideas
![]() A no socket error may refer to some kind of port 21 blockage on the client computer not the server. |
