Can you secure a folder on a server?

hi everyone,
I recently finished a website in flash. The website is based on a php/mysql admin system I fully build.
Can I protect myself from my client by securing the folder on the server the admin files are in?
I do not like the idea at all, that he has acces to a very nice admin system, and is able to pass my huge amount of scriptinghours to his friends.

maybe a weird question? but I'd love to hear some more about this, Many thanks - game

Absolutely Probably the easiest way to do this is with a .htaccess and .htpasswd file. Here's a guide on how to do this: Guide.
Hope this helps =)

Won't .htaccess and .htpasswd protect the files/directories from being accessed over the net?

From the question, I assumed that his clients site that he created resided on a server they have access too. Which, would in effect, allow them access to all the files regardless of .htaccess and .htpasswd. There is software that can password protect folders on a machine, but don't think they will work for files that need to be seen on the web.

Guess the person who originally posted would need to specify what sort of protection is needed.... Access from the web, or server itself.

Indeed hiker guessed right.
My client has ftp acces.
I have a folder that contains about 50 php files that together from an admin systeem that I dont want anyone to have acces to. The admin system off course has to stay functional.
I'd love to hear some more on this software, or is it better to indeed leave the folder accesable and just make very clear the files have copyright?
Many thanks, game
