Connecting to remote server through aol dial-up

Hi.
New to the forum, new to ftp.

I am trying to help a friend out who is using aol high speed dial-up.
He is unable to connect to the MyNetStorage remote server using the Hostname/username/password I have provided. I believe he says when he trys to connect, it simply says the attempt fails.
I had him try using IE and that failed as well.

I have verified that I, as well as another friend, can connect via two ftp programs and via IE. The only differences that I can tell ( helping over the phone) is that he is using dial-up and aol.

Would someone have any suggestions about how to diagnose and remedy this connection problem?

Thanks,
DanT
