Copying on remote ftp host

Hi
Is there a trick to copying a file to a different directory on a remote ftp host with command line ftp? Having failed with native windows FTP, I've downloaded MOVEit but I still can't find how to do it.

Any help appreciated (or even a tip to stop wasting time looking because it can't be done!)

I might be wrong, but I think you will have to download it and then upload it to the correct ftp directory.

Thanks. My research kept coming up with that same conclusion - ftp having been designed a long time ago with only uploading and downloading in mind.

Unfortunately downloading to upload again isn't an option in this case as it's a process to be done hundreds of times a day with large sound files. At the moment I think telnet is the probable way forward with macros and batch files to look after the details for me.

Cheers for your response
