So if i understand correctly, The way you currently download the files is by going to the link(https://...) in Internet Explorer and clicking on the file you want to download and then you save it to your pc?
Am I correct?

Do you have to login into this web site to download the files?
Are all the files you download listed on the web site in sequence or are they randomly spread out all over the page(s)?
Can you post a screen capture of the web page that lists the files that you click on to download?

Yes, I've a UserName and Password that I need to use to login.
The files are randomly spread all over this page. I've to use the unique 8 digit numbers to search the files.
Thanks!

But unfortunately, I've a lot of questions. Sorry about that
As I have a user name and password, the propmpt mget-*-3*.* is not needed as it is for anonomys logins. Am I correct?
The problem I faced was not bbeing able to get to the point that asked me for the User name and Passsword on DOS. I'm pretty sure I was messing up with some commands.
Is it possible for you to help me with the commands need on the DOS Commandline right from start? I'll really be greatful to you!
Look forward to a positive response.
Kind regards,
Jai

You should know that HTTPS [hyper-text transfer protocol secure] has nothing to do with FTP [file transfer protocol], except for the fact that you are wanting to transfer files.
To my knowledge, the commandline [DOS] ftp program will not connect to an HTTPS web server.
I suggest you use spacebar208's suggestion of using a download manager program like IDM [internetdownloadmanager] or Flashget, both of which have a batch file downloading section with filtering that you can use to download your multiple files.
As for setting up these filters, it depends on which download manager you choose as to how it wants the filter(s) setup. You may need to use several different filters to get all the files you want to download. This will most likely take a bit of trial-error on your part to get them the way you need.

Thank you Sir!
Now, I understand why it was always saying not conected despite following the process I had researched through internet.
Really appreciate your inputs. As I mentioned, in my first post I'm a non technical person, but a curious learner and want to get this done my self with assistance from experts like you! I know its challanging I may come up with silly questions, but at the end of the day will end up learning!
Coming to the point is there a document on the net that I can go through to have this accomplished (step by step process)? I'm actually running out of time.
Secondly, I guess there is also a Firewall restriction on the hosts side, which I'll need to get removed. Right?
I spend 3-5 hours daily, so it is extremely crucial.
Please advise...
Regards,
Jai

IMHO, There are no 'silly' questions if you are learning and you do not understand!

Whether you choose:Each one will have help text and tutorial and forum for assistance.

I would say no, since you are able to get to the site in your browser currently.

Thank you for your paitence sir! Your inputs are immensely valuable to me

Which one would you suggest? And as I understand I don't need to use DOS given the scenario.
A small apprehension, can my hit and trail affect the host site/ recording files in it? I can't take that risk...please advise...

Okay! So Firewall isn't an issue. I missunderstood then.
Once again a big thanks to you!
I'm in a bad shape, and need to get this up and running asap.
Hoping for a miracle to happen!

Jai

Another question I thought of:
Can you select multiple files by holding down the left CTRL key and left clicking on multiple files and then right click on the last file you selected and select save?
If so, does this start downloading all the files you selected?

Unfortunatley, the answer is "No" sir. I can't do that. Each file is to be selected individually.
Thank you!

What happens when you select multiple files like I described?

The files appear as hyperlinks (in the naming convenntion) I shared one below the other on the page. There are 1000's of them and I need 300-500 of them. So selecting multiple isn't an optiion. I need to serach those with the I'd one-by-one before I can download (8 unique number) starting with 3 below
The page displays them as follows:
1. 20121008-0650-36614191-in.wav
2. 20121008-0650-36614191-out.wav
3. 20121008-0844-36614525-in.wav
4. 20121008-0844-36614525-out.wav
5. 20121008-1027-36612209-in.wav
6. 20121008-1027-36612209-out.wav
7. 20121008-1056-36631178-in.wav
8. 20121008-1056-36631178-out.wav
9. 20121008-1253-36634929-out.wav
10. 20121008-1259-36646635-in.wav
Thank you!

You should be able to use a download manager, for example(Free Download Manager).
With a download manager you can drag & drop the links to the download window which is a small window that will look like a down pointing arrow it will always stay on top of your other windows and you can move it around.
The above mentioned download manager has a feature called site explorer that will allow you to explore the site/directory and pick which files you want since I believe the file names you download are different every day.
I've attached a image that gives a little info on the site explorer feature.
The main advantage for you in using a download manager is the speed of the downloading, this is a clip giving a little detail:
FDM accelerates downloads by splitting files into sections and then downloading them simultaneously. As a result download speed increases up to 600%, or even more! FDM can also resume broken downloads so you needn`t start downloading from the beginning after casual interruption.
