Executing an exe file via FTP
I guess I have 2 major questions.
First, will any FTP server software allow this option. When I setup/edit a FTP account on the remote server, the FTP server software does not give me an option for execute, only read, right, or modify. If this is the problem, what FTP server should I use? Second, what permissions should I set for the folder the .exe file is located in? By default, Windows 2000 Pro gives full privileges to " Everyone ", I assume this is everyone on the remote server. Will this allow FTP clients to execute, or should I select a different user in the security folder? Which "user" would enable a FTP client to execute an .exe file? This may be so simple I'll feel stupid, but I'm beating my head against the wall, so I'm humbly asking for help. TIA |

You can't execute remote files from a ftp client. Files can only be executed locally or by using a remote shell or some kind of remote desktop software.
