FTP and virtual directories
I'm fairly new to this but Linux is running, I've compiled the Apache setup I like, enabled virtaul hosts, have 3 sites running from an old Gateway 266......doin' ok for a complete newbie and a dumb guy that didn't grow up with PCs. My question: for a couple of years I've run an FTP server with a mountain of files available - they've been spread all over my LAN. With a Win32 app (Bulletproof Server) you can designate "virtual directories" on other PCs that people see when they log in. People access them as if they were local (on the log-in PC)....makes sense, since they're called "virtual directories". I don't expect anyone to tell me how this is done (in total - I'm sure it's involved) but is there a way to accomplish the same thing with a server running from Linux? Anyone know of a tutorial dedicated to something like this? Can I borrow twenty dollars?
