FTP only new and update files

Hi,

I have recently setup an FTP server to backup some documents. So it contains a number of documents within several directories. Is it possible to automatically only ftp updated versions of the existing documents and any new documents within those directories rather than having to ftp them all again everytime?

If so, how?

Many thanks for your help in advance,

Paul.
