FTP servers?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but then again I don't know of a better place to ask it...

How do I set up a box loaded with FreeBSD and Apache to be able to FTP to? Do I configure Apache to do it, or is there a such a thing as a FTP server program, or is it something else? Thanks in advance!

I'm a big fan of pure-ftpd found in /usr/ports/ftp/pure-ftpd/. It will install documentation which very likely has all the answers, you just have to be willing to read a bit. If you prefer html docs, it's available on their website.

Other than pureftpd, proftpd is another popular one and is in ports. The simple ftpd comes preinstalled in most cases. During initial setup in sysinstall, you probably had the option to configure it.

And there are tons of other options. I'd suggest one of those mentioned above, just because they're likely the best supported. /usr/ports/ftp has a number of other offerings.

Thanks. I didn't know how to go about setting up ftp. I didn't know if it was a separate server, or was just part of a webserver. Now I do, thanks to you. Again, thanks!
