FTP Transfer Rates??

Hello everyone,

This is Jai. I am a student at WMU, Kalamazoo.

I used WS_FTP Pro to transfer some files from Mississippi State University to our school. But i ended up with the following results and my prof is sure not happy with it.

1. The transfer rates for images(.PGM extension used in Matlab) with size about 47MB was like 1.1Mbps.

2.The transfer rate for compressed images(.MAT extension again used in Matlab) with size about 3.7MB was 0.32 to about 0.4Mbps.

Transfer was done in bit mode.

I thought the transfer rates should at least be the same if not faster for small files. Why is this happening?

If anyone could answer this, I would be really grateful to you.
