I'm hoping someone has come across this before because I am really
I am trying to upload certain files to an FTP account we have. I can use a web interface (web2ftp.com) fine. But when i try to use a FTP client, I received access denied messages if i try to delete/rename/create folder. In addition if i use the client to upload, it says transfer complete but is not in the directory listing. The web interface freezes out when i try to upload a 540Mb zipped file so that is why its important i try to suss out the problem with FTP client. My access is through an application server (Windows Server 2003) using ISA Server as a firewall (has been configured to allow outgoing FTP acces). Any help would be appreciated |

You don't mention which FTP client you were using, what is it?
If it's the MS cmd line client, it might be because the ms client can't handle passive ftp. Try using the Filezilla client instead. I use filezilla client & server and find it to be excellent. Displeaser

I've tried SmartFTP, FileZilla, and AceFTP and having problems with all three in either passive mode or not.
I'm absolutely baffled and so are the technical support at BT and Xcalibre (FTP hosting company) |

Hmmm, I presume ur using the same username & password with both the clients & the web2ftp? Has it ever worked? (just to be sure) I have never used web2ftp so dont know how good the error reporting is on it. (btw on the web2ftp website faq they say the client will freeze when uploading big files maybe all you have to do is wait longer). Can you upload small files with web2ftp? it sounds very like you dont have permissions to do anything except logon. Can you list the ftp folder contents? I presume also that the ftp hosts have checked the permissions. Maybe the permissions through whatever ftp server they are using are correct & maybe the file perssions on the folder are not letting you do stuff, get them to check that as well. Maybe get them to setup a new user and configure security for that and see if it works. Displeaser |
