ftp uploading with win98

I have zero experience with ftp and could really use help. I am trying to use a monitoring program called realtime-spy. This program installs on the parent computer and then creates a deployable file that is installed stealth on the child computer. The child computer then uploads by ftp to a members website where the parent computer (or any computer with password) can view logs of all activity on the child computer. The child computer for some reason is not reporting to the site. However, if I monitor the parent computer, everything works fine. Tech support is telling me that the child computer is not uploading on the ftp port for some unknown reason and that the program is not hindered by a hardware firewall. Child computer is Win98, Parent computer is WinXP. Both computers are behind a Belkin 3-port wireless router/firewall. The parent computer is hard-wired, the child computer is wireless. No software firewall on either computer. I receive no error messages of any kind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to open port 20 and port 21 on the router, and map them to port 20 and 21 on the child computer, those ports may be mapped to the parent computer right now.

Parents are so worried about their children doing bad things on the computer, why dont they just teach their children what to do and what not to do? It would be much less expensive.

I have looked at the router, and that's not the issue. Whatever the problem is, is unique to that computer. It will upload if using a program such a cute ftp.

And by the way, I asked for computer advice, not parenting advice. I was raised by a minister, and was taught christian values. I didn't always do as I was taught. Any parent that thinks that simply teaching your children proper values means that they will never stray, is only fooling themselves. If more parents kept a closer eye on their children, the world wouldn't be so messed up nowadays.

That being said, I'll try a different forum.
