FTP web hosting
Ok, here is my situation. I have a freshly installed copy of Windows 2003 Server. I install IIS, FTP, and remote administration just to name them. Now, I can FTP, and I can use a website. But, I can't seem to get the two working together. I have a few friends that would like me to host a site for them (nothing big, just testing asp scripts and such), anyway I have come to a dilama. Here is what I need help with, I want to create a user and create that user's folder (user name is folder name) and I want him to be able to FTP to it, and view it from the internet (http) without me having to move files from the uploads folder to the website folder. Each will have their own folder such as...
http://myipaddress/Friend1/
I would preferably like to start from the beginning with help, like after a fresh install. I have tried to get it them to work together like real hosting companies have it, but when ever I upload something and go to see it in the web broswer it asks me for a username and password which I would like not to see. So that other users can come and view. Also, I don't want users to see each other's directory. Does anyone know of a simple way to do this, maybe a program or script or a tutorial/manual instruction. All help is appreciated. One last thing, is there a secure way to provice FTP? My ftp login screen says itn's insecure and passwords are sent in cleartext.
