FTP won't stop downloading large files

I've had this issue for some time now and can't find answers anywhere.

Using Fetch and Cyberduck
Downloading a 771MB file from a large server using FTP

Status bar shows its downloading and when it looks done they
both say 100% downloaded but then it goes beyond and doesn't stop.
I click stop since its now showing negative time till download and it shows only 300mb downloaded and the file won't open. I click resume and the status bar drops from 100% down to like %50 and the process repeats itself all over again.

Yeah.. Stop hitting Cancel. If you cancel and the file isn't complete, it won't open. Ignore the 100% downloaded, and just let it go. Instead, check the file properties periodically through the download, and see how big the file is. If it keeps increasing, then the file is still downloading.
