I am looking for a product where I can create a login page on our website, and once they login after requesting a login, they are presented with a windows like explorer window. The login needs to have directory rights. Once there all they need to do is drag and drop the files which they want to download or upload to our site.
It needs to be dummy proof, if such a thing exists. I have looked around, personally use ws_ftp, but the boss doesn't want them to install any ftp programs on the client side. Any ideas? Thanks for the input! |

The web is the wrong environment for drag and drop.
I'm not saying it's not possible, but it would be a development and maintenance nightmare and wouldn't meet the dummy proof requirement b/c it would require JavaScript (at least). You might be able to do this with Flash !? My recommendation, though, is to create a list of requirements set by your boss and have him prioritize those requirements. Then find a solution that meets the main objectives and explain that not all of those wants are always possible together.
