How do I find the right FTP server?

I am trying to upload a new site that I've made in Web Studio. I'm using the program FTP Commander Pro. I'm kind of new to this website loading thing. I've been told to make sure your FTP server is correct so that your site connects properly. I have tried "ftp.microsoft.com" and it connects. But the only thing is, I can't find the right folder into which I want my website to go into. I'm using Netfirms and the folder i'm after is "www'.
I'm not really too sure how to write the right FTP server in order to find the www folder. Or, a list of FTP servers that i can experiment with might help me too. I've tried using my IP address, that doesn't work.
So, basically i'm stumped. I really hope this makes some sense!
Thankyou so much!

you didn't get any information from netfirms on how to upload your files ? about ftp address, username and passwords.

maybe you have to use theirs control panel to upload files.

No, I haven't contacted Netfirms yet. I contacted the FTP program and they sort of answered my question. The thing is, when I upload files through Netfirms, the images aren't viewable (squares with little crosses in corners), but when they're uploaded through FTP commander, they're viewable. This is really confusing me. It's probably something very simple.
Anyone still got suggestions?

have no experience with netfirms, but sounds like the image is place in another folder when you use theirs cp. would explain why it wont display the picture, because you dont have the correct path to them.

Thanks MrFujin. I was beginning to think that the link to the folders might need to be to the correct path. I think what I need to do is copy the folder with the right images to all the folders, so they are viewable. Still trying to work it out, but I will let you know.

if you are still seeing red X's on your live site...in your browser right click on the red x and click 'properties' this should give you the address (location) of where the browser is looking for the image... you can do one of two things to correct the problem...

move the image(s) to where the browser is looking or change the source code to point to the actual location of the images...
