Question installed ftp server

hi to all ,
I used to work with windows and recently I switched to linux.

I'v just installed linux on my pc. Now I have to install ftp-server too.

I don't know if i have an installed one or not .

Somebody told me that I could check it by using following command:

rpm -qa | grep "ftp"

I did so and after typing the command I got these :

ncftp-3.0.3-6
ftp-0.17-12

1- Are they ftp server ?

2- If positive , then which one is default ftp server ?

3- What if I want to get another ftp server and make it default one for my system ?

4- is there a way that i can uninstall above mentioned applications ?? (ofcorse if they are ftp server )

I hope I could express my problem in a clear way :">

Both those are clients.
Try to install
vsftpd or wu-ftpd both are available on most distros or you can find them at rpmfind.net

all the best.

Now *there's someone who knows what they are talking about ! rofl

you need to edit your /etc/ftpusers file and add/remove username to whom you want to grant/revoke access.
