Mac FTP clients to FTP site on windows server

Hi,

On a windows 2003 VPS box I set up FTP Filezilla Server.

Now from a windows box I could connect fine using filezilla FTP client, and the speed was fantastic uploading and downloading via FTP with fantastic speed.

Then when I got a friend of mine on Mac to connect using filezilla MAC client, he could however it is very very slow. He also tried cyberduck.

I also set up an FTP site within IIS and yet again the same thing, FTP clients on a windows machine were fine (no speed issues) but any MAC clients were painfully slow.

What can I do? Is this normal?

Or is this just MAC and Windows not working well together?

Surely this is not the first time a MAC client has needed to FTP to an FTP server running on Windows?

Sounds more like a connectivity issue at the end of your friend than other problem...did you try with mac and Win over the same connection to avoid a problem with the connection used by your friend?
