noobie question, please help

i am starting my first website, and i got a free host, and my website is magclan.koolhost.com, and in the email they said that my ftp adress was magclan.koolhost.com so ive put that into the box on my ftp uploader, and i have put in the user name and pwd for my account at the free web hosting site (is that correct) but when i say connect it doesnt work - can someone look at the screenshot and tell me what im doing wrong? if its complicated, MSN me on jamespraveen@aol.com

btw - i am looking for someone familiar with ftp or C++ to help me with this sight, if anyone is interested please ask and help me get this damned site up.

FTP port 21 (this was there by def, dunno what it means)

USER: name: 'i put in here the one given to me in the email from the hosting company
password - ditto
email: 'in a grey box, cant edit it


RESPONSE TYPE: default (what the ???)

other: shared virtual host
