Opeartion time out error

I try to connect my domain's ftp (ftp.mydomain.com) in I.E. It states "operation time out -- Can't access...). So I try to connect it using FTP client tool and it does, but the speed is slow...

I've contacted the domain's support.. but they just ask me to use the FTP client. What problem is that and any solution to let me connect the ftp using I.E?

Can't you connect to any FTP server by using your Internet Explorer?

Under the Tools menu, click Internet Options, then click Advanced. Scroll down until you find an option: "Enable FTP Folder View". Make sure it is checked.

I have a similar issue. Yesterday I was happily FTP'ing away when suddenly the conection crashed and now I can't ftp via IE, Dreamweaver or any FTP application. It just times out. I've disabled my firewall and checked settings as per Jamie's advice (all correct) but I can't connect. My colleagues on other computers can easily ftp into the sites I want access to - it seems it is just my machine. Any help and advice would be most appreciated.

Hi,

If you use a proper FTP application, it will show you the logs. You copy & paste them here and it would be easier to troubleshoot your issues.

Regards,

Jaime

Hi Jamie, thanks for getting back to me. I don't have any logs, sorry. After spending the whole day trying to resolve the issue I think it was something to do with my router in the end and the problem has now resolved itself. Thanks for responding though.

I am using Filezilla as a FTP client. When trying to get to certain folders I get the following error.

Error: Timeout detected!
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing

Hi,

Did you try to contact your hosting provider about your issue?

Jaime
