If you know how to use IRC, this would be a lot easier in #devshed (see my sig).. in the meantime, you'll need to be logged in as the root user and you'll have to use a text editor to open, edit and save the inetd.conf and proftpd.conf.
So some questions about your system - are you running Gnome or Kde or some other x-window manager, or are you working on a remote box via telnet/ssh? if the answer is the latter, you'll need to use a non-graphical editor. Populare ones are Pico, Nano, emacs, vi.. I use vi. So to edit the inetd.conf, just type vi /etc/inetd.conf However, none of these text editors are particularly easy to use.. so it's going to depend on what you have available. christo |

i have mirc, but im not very good at it. can i just type /connect irc2.beyondirc.net or do i gotta do something else
